A custom Shopify theme built from the ground up for a veterinary education provider that needed far more than a standard online store.

Antech's Academy of Veterinary Imaging website provides hands-on training and continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Courses span topics such as echocardiography, radiology, soft tissue imaging, and general ultrasound applications.

The challenge: course registration, not a product catalogue

What the client needed wasn't another generic Shopify store with a catalog to browse. Registrants are licensed professionals booking a specific seat on a specific date, so the store had to capture attendee details, licensing information, and related hospital information up front. The store also required custom workflows: confirmations are approved manually, courses have limited capacity, and waitlists are needed. None of that fits the standard add-to-cart pattern, which is why an off-the-shelf theme was never an option.

What we built: a custom Shopify theme shaped around registrations

The entire Shopify theme was developed in-house and shaped around those requirements from the ground up. Each course is built as its own Shopify product, extended with structured fields for dates, venue, and CE credits. In turn, these drive a course finder where practitioners browse upcoming sessions by location, course type, and more, with past sessions dropping off automatically. A custom registration form captures the practice and licensing details a standard cart can't hold, all backed by a private Shopify app that turns every enquiry into a customer record and draft order inside the admin. Custom sections cover pricing, instructor bios, testimonials, FAQs, and contact, so the client's team publishes new sessions, adjusts pricing, and updates content directly from Shopify without developer involvement.
